DIA DA MADEIRA – CANADA DAY

“Dia da Madeira”, (celebrated in Madeira on 1 July) is a holiday marking the date when Portugal granted autonomy to The Madeira Islands. Although it is only officially celebrated in Madeira, Portuguese citizens and also Portuguese immigrants throughout the world celebrate this holiday.
There are several large Madeiran (Portuguese) communities around the world, England, USA South Africa, Venezuela to name a few, they celebrate Madeira Day.
ALL MADEIRIANS HERE IN CANADA HAVE IT GOOD AS WE GET TO CELEBRATE THIS SPECIAL DAY AND MERGE IT WITH OUR CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS.
